Christmas Turkey Bonspiel
What would Christmas be without Turkey? ... Probably still Christmas. More importantly, what would Chrstmas be without the Turkey Bonspiel?... Hmmm, I can't remember that ever happening, but I bet it would be a lot less fun. So, if you want some fun while you're coping with the stress and hassle of getting ready for Christmas, the Turkey Bonspiel is your ticket. Of course, the best way to shed the Christmas stress is to arrive early and have a glass (or cup) of Christmas cheer while you chat with other players. The eggnog and/or coffee (with rum or Baileys, if desired) are complimentary.
The event starts on Sun Dec 2 and continues through Sunday Dec 16, wrapping up in the evening on Tuesday Dec 18. For this event, competitors enter as individuals and teams are made up so as to make the competition as even as possible. The players in the top team will win a turkey, the runner up team members will each receive a ham. The remaining five or six top teams will also receive prizes. Of course, in addition to the possibility of winning a turkey, you will also have the opportunity of curling with a turkey. No, I don't mean your skip. You will be able (as best you can) to toss a suitably wrapped turkey, with handle, down the ice. Closest toss to the button wins something, probably the turkey.
The signup sheet for this event is on a poster board at the club. For more information contact Lorne Musselman at 257-1318.
